IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Annette Greene
Barrow
October 10, 1939 – December 5, 2023
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light, Matthew 11:28-30
The pages of Annette Greene Barrows life unfolded with the tender grace of a life lived with purpose, marked by love, and guided by the principles of her parents Oscar Calloway Sr. and Frances Green Calloway. Born on October 10, 1939, Annette entered this world as a beacon of light, destined to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share her journey.
Annette received her formal education in the Griffin-Spalding County School System. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1958.
In 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Franklin Barrow, with whom she spent forty-eight years of her life. To this union were born Marvin Keith Barrow (deceased) and Melvin Kenneth Barrow.
She belonged to Mount Zion Baptist Church, actively participating as a choir member and contributing in various roles until health issues intervened.
Her professional journey involved working in personnel options at Southern Bell, coaching basketball at First Assembly, and serving as a sports official booking agent. She formally retired from her career in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Green Calloway; father, Oscar Calloway, Sr.; husband, Marvin Franklin Barrow; son, Marvin Keith Barrow; and sister, Freda Glover (Edward Glover).
She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Melvin Kenneth Barrow(June); sister, Jäcqueline Calloway; brother, Oscar Calloway, Jr.(Cathy); grandchildren, Joshua Michael Pace, and Alexis Pace Clark(Rodderick); great-grandchild, Zara Clark; nieces, Rosalyn Driver and Lisa Calloway; nephews, Jeffrey Calloway and Tony Lewis; and a host of cousins and friends.
