IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony
Jones
March 2, 1962 – December 5, 2025
Anthony Jones was born on March 2,1962, in Harvey, Illinois, to the late Fletcher Mae Jones and the late Eugene Young, Sr. At an early age, he moved to Griffin, Georgia, the place he proudly called home for the rest of his life. Anthony was affectionately known by many nicknames: Squeegy, Moon Pie, Oatmeal, and plenty more was a man whose laughter filled every room and whose love for people made him unforgettable.
Anthony was a 1980 graduate of Griffin High School and a true jack-of-all-trades. Though he held several jobs throughout the years, nothing brought him more joy than raking his mother’s yard—a simple task that he turned into a labor of love.
Anthony is preceded in death by his beloved mother and father; grandparents; grandmother, Johnnie Mae Carter, grandfather, Lem alexander; three brothers, Mr. Al Alexander, Mr. Ernest H. Jones, and Mr. Leonard Jones; two sisters, Ms. Joyce A. Bibbs and Ms. Ruby L. Marshall; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Alexander; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Leonard Bibbs and Mr. Ernest Truman Marshall; and one nephew, LaRicky Andrews.
At 63 years old, Anthony entered eternal rest on Friday evening, December 5, 2025, when God gently whispered his name and he answered with a peaceful, “I surrender.”
Anthony lived life with humor, heart, and a spirit that drew people to him. His jokes, his big smile, and his ability to make anyone feel welcome will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted son, Mr. Dontae (Candice) Jones; his precious granddaughter, Jordan Jones; and his loving siblings, Mr. Homer L. Jones, Mrs. Angela D. (Cleveland) Smith, and Ms. Regina Young. He is also survived by 12 nieces, 10 nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a host of cousins, friends, and a special lady friend, Robin Lyons, all of whom loved him deeply.
Anthony leaves behind countless memories funny stories, warm moments, and a legacy of love and laughter that will never fade. To know him was to enjoy life a little more.
Uncle Antwon, we will miss you tremendously. The space you leave in our hearts will be filled with the joy you brought us and the memories we will forever hold close. Rest well and know that we love you always.
