The Life
of
Earnest Williams Clowers, Sr.
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you
John:1-2V Suffragan Bishop Ernest Clowers, Sr. was born
on July 21, 1956, to the parentage of the Late Mr. J.D.
Clowers and the late Mrs. Christine W. Gray. He was born and raised in Jones County, where she attended and graduated from Jones County High School.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Gwendolyn
Havior, his brothers, Mr. James Clowers, Sr. & Arthur Gray, Jr., and Ricky Gray and his bonus daughter Aisha Brown.
Suffragan Bishop Clowers furthered his education and graduated from the Fort Valley State College with a bachelor's and master's degree. While at Fort Valley State he mentored many young men while serving as the Residency Director of Jeans Hall. After leaving Fort Valley State he worked at Reidsville State Prison in Reidsville, Ga. and later becoming a rehabilitation counselor at the Georgia Center in Reynolds, GA. After more than 30 years, he retired in 2017.
Suffragan Bishop Clowers gave his life to the Lord at an early age. As a child he attended Southside Church of God in Christ in Macon, GA. He loved the Lord and always loved church. While attending college he joined Zeliner's Chapel First Born Church of the Living God. His faith grew and he learned how to trust the Lord. In the late 70's he accepted the call to ministry and became very active in the international church. He held numerous roles on the local,
and national levels. Those positions include Union Director,
Superintendent, Presiding Elder, and Executive Board Member. He served as a charter member of the New Millenium Diocese under the leadership of the late Senior Bishop Titus B. Deas, Sr. He has been the only Presiding Elder of the North Central District.
His faith was truly tested and strengthened as he stepped out in faith to become the senior pastor of International City First Born Church in 1985 along with Co-founders, Dr. Angela E. Addison, Elder Angela Plant Williams, Sister Carol (Peggy) Brown Shields, and Jacqueline Brown. As the church grew, so did his vision. He dreamt of purchasing a property that had ample space for a school. That dream became true in 2001.
