Obituary

Fred was born on July 31, 1933, in Jackson County, FL. He was the third of four children born to Arthur and Christianna Bryan Peterson. Daddy had to drop out of school in the 9th grade to work in the field with his other siblings to help feed the family. As an adult he later moved to Bay County FL in 1955. He worked for several businesses such in Bay County such as Daffin Supply Co, the City Of Panama City, Berg Pipe Company, Rhodes Furniture, Cook Whitehead Ford and the City Of Callaway as an equipment operator before retiring in 2012.

Daddy was a faithful member of St John Missionary Baptist Church serving as a Deacon since 1991. He sang in Choir #1 and the Male Chorus. He was a devoted Deacon visiting the sick and shut-in at their homes, the hospital and nursing home every Sunday until his health began to fail.

Daddy was full of wisdom. He loved to talk about his work and he would share many stories and opinions on the state of affairs with the church and community. And he would tell you like it was whether you liked it or not. He would tell his children and grandchildren "what the Bible says" and "what's right from wrong". And he didn't spare the rod either.

As a Christian, Daddy's core values were "to treat people like you want to be treated". He didn't believe in cheating or getting over on people. He was generous to anyone in need.

Besides his love for his family daddy loved to work. Whatever the job maybe repairing furniture, cleaning out the ditches, snaking out a pipe or weed eating and raking yards. Daddy believed in "doing the job the right way".

To retire or not to retire? In retirement, Daddy didn't slow down. He was a jack of all trades. His daily schedule would start with a chicken McGriddle breakfast at the Callaway McDonald's then onto whatever plumbing or yardwork that was on his schedule for that day.

Daddy didn't have any hobbies but he loved to sing. His favorite songs were old hymns and gospel songs such as "Won't It Be Grand" and "May The Works I've Done Speak For Me". He would continue to sing songs praising his Lord throughout his illness.

On Sunday August 13, 2023, Daddy quietly went on to be with his Lord surrounded by his family at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital. He was 90 years old.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Christianna Bryan; father, Arthur Peterson; brothers, Robert Peterson; Willie Dan (Mary Louise) Peterson, Sr., and Rev. Jesse L Peterson; a sister, Louise (Laredell) Godwin; a brother in law Ozie Godwin; one son LCPL Frederick and daughter in-law Beverly Peterson.

Daddy lived a long, blessed life and leaves a great family legacy starting with his loving & devoted wife of 49 years Jeanette Bellamy Peterson. Two (2) sisters Helen Godwin of Tampa FL and Ivy Lee Nix of Panama City FL. Six (6) sons Wayne (Donna) Peterson of Griffin GA, Gregory Bellamy of Bonifay FL, Greg (Sue) Peterson of Panama City FL, Mark (LaTonya) Peterson of Brockton MA, Jonathan and Christopher Peterson of Tallahassee FL, five (5) daughters Ramona Gail Peterson and Alice Hutchinson Clark of Panama City FL, Cynthia (Joe) Fuller of Griffin GA, Jackie (Reggie) Character of Ellenwood GA, Lanae Peterson of Marlborough MA.
