Pastor Edward Lamar Thompson was born on July 20, 1956, to the late Emmitt and Thelma Thompson in Charleston, South Carolina.
Pastor Thompson received his education from Howard High School (Chattanooga, TN) and the Moody Bible Institute. God called him to preach and teach The Word. He was ordained by Pastor Samuel Lattimore and had pastored and preached for over 21 years. Pastor Thompson pastored Born Again Christian Ministries of Chattanooga, TN for over 21 years. He was employed at McKee Bakeries (Collegedale, TN) as a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed The Word of God, playing the bass guitar and his family.
On Thursday, July 20, 2023, The Lord called him home celebrating his birthday and his eternal entrance into Heaven.
Pastor Edward Lamar Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, son, Nicholas Thompson, brothers, Ruben Wayne Thompson, and Maurice Thompson, 2 grandchildren, Gabrielle, and Kendrick Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 18 years, Carmen Trueitt Thompson of Hampton, GA. Daughters, Nicole Thompson and Tonya Thompson of Chattanooga, TN; Christen Trueitt of Hampton, GA. Son, Christopher Silvels of Macon, GA. Grandchildren, Monica, Arica, Alana, Kayla, and Nina, all of Chattanooga, TN. Great-grandchildren, Leilani and Lia of Chattanooga, TN. Brothers, Ronald (Carolyn) Thompson of Chattanooga, TN, and Gerald (Mabel) Thompson of Alabama. Father and Mother-in-Law, Willie and Flora Trueitt, Sr., Brother-in-law, Willie J. Trueitt Jr. and Sister-in-Law, Crystal Trueitt (Dr. Eric) Sims, all of Chattanooga, TN, Best friend, Charlie Benton of Chattanooga, TN. Also, many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
