Gwendolyn "Aunt Gwen" Carson was born May 18, 1958 to the late Savannah Carson and Roy Barkley. She attended school in Jackson, Ga. After highschool, she worked at Spalding Knitting Mill and later went on to be a CNA for 15 years at Westbury Healthcare. She joined St James Baptist Church at a young age. She was passionate about cooking and loved every child she met as if they were her own. She never met a stranger and definitely left her mark on a lot of people.

Aunt Gwen departed life on March 17,2022. She is preceded in death by her niece Denika Barkley. She leaves and cherishes her memories to her two loving and devoted daughters; Shaketa (Ernest) Hughley and Jacinta Calloway; siblings, one sister: Michelle Carson and four brothers; Charles Barkley, Gary (Denise) Barkley, Thomas Carson and Randy (Deborah) Carson; two nieces; Katoria Jester and Ariel Jester; two nephews: Jenvarious Barkley and Brandon Barkley; two granddaughters; Keindra "Coot" Thomas and Olivia Tyus; three great-nephews: Jaidyn Barkley, Malik Johnson and Jaxon Johnson and one great-niece (her favorite): Savannah "Chocolate Drop" Johnson.

She had a few special friends that were more like family: Barbara Driver, Evelyn Moreland, Darlene Colquitt, Shirley Allen, Boosie Watson, Carol Allen, Cedric Fletcher, Tricia Lyons, three kids that were close to her heart: Janyia Pikes, Kesiree Thomas and Rhyan "Daddy" Phillips and a host of other nieces, nephews and great friends.
