James Charles
Daniel
August 28, 1938 – January 8, 2025
On a hot sunny day, a boy was born to the union of Edward Thomas "E. T." Daniel and Mary Bryant Daniel, James Charles Daniel "Jamie" the fifth child of seven children, was born on August 28, 1938, in Pike County, GA. He attended the Pike County School System. James joined and was baptized at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Pastor M. Watts.
Being a very outgoing person, he loved to fish and hunt, although his greatest joy was sports, he loved the Dodgers, Lakers and Rams and could give the stats for each player. His first job was at age of 14, as a delivery boy for Bob's Drug Store, on a bicycle. In the summer he would hop on the truck with the older men, under the supervision of Mr. Otis Stafford and work on the farms in Florida. At the age of 18 he moved to Hickory, NC, at the age of 19 he made his home in Los Angeles, CA; upon meeting and marrying Juanita, his wife of 62 years he relocated to Orange County, CA.
James had a very interesting employment life, working for Flecther Jones Chevrolet as a tow truck driver. After relocating to Orange County, he worked for Five Bros. Tire Co, and the Local 269 Laborers Construction Union. After retiring in 2008, he became bored and began to work for the City of Santa Ana in Park Maintenance, until his health began to fail in 2023.
Preceding him in death was his father E. T. Daniel; Mother Mary Daniel; two brothers and one sister: Eugene Daniel, Edward Daniel and Leila "Sally" Daniel.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Juanita Daniel, of Tustin, CA; two sons: Charles Daniel and James Eves of Tustin, CA; four daughters: Diane (John) Martin, Sandra Martin of Griffin, GA, LaWanda Denise Ridgeway of Riverdale, GA and Crystal Daniel of Tustin, CA. Ten grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. In addition, James leaves behind three sisters: Virginia "Gin" Daniel of Griffin, GA, Susie (Alonzo) Thrash of Riverdale, GA and Frances Johnson of Mableton, GA. And a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
