Mother Annie Kate Gilbert was born on February 26, 1937, in Pike County to Johnny Gilbert and Willie Mae Smith. She received her formal education at the Pike County school system.
Mother Kate accepted Christ as her savior at an early age at Mt.
Nebo Baptist Church. She was a member at Shield of Faith in Griffin, GA. She was employed at the Pepper Plant.
Mother Kate enjoyed spending time with her kids and many grandkids. She also loved watching detective shows. Everyone in the neighborhood knew she was someone you could come to in need.
On May 17, 2024, Mother Annie Kate Gilbert left this earthly plane. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Gilbert; mother, Willie Mae Smith; James Harper; grandfather, Ben Gilbert; grandmother, Carrie Gilbert; son, Al Gilbert; daughter, Veronica Lewis; sisters, Myrtrice James and Leecsie; brother, Charles Johnson; and granddaughters, Erica Watkins and Casancia Gilbert-Fini.
Mother Annie Kate Gilbert leaves a lasting legacy full of loving memories to her children, Angela (Robert) Collier, Roxanne Conell, Satinia (Vernia) Gilbert, Kimberly (Milton) Crawley, Paula (Eugene) Jackson, Jason (Natasha) Gilbert, and Muriel (Willie) Nelson, and daughter in law, Mattie Gilbert; siblings, Ernest William, Jerome Harper, and Louise Pyron; aunt, Mary Webb; 23 grandkids, 56 great-grandkids, and 22 great-great-grandkids; and she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.
