Mother Naola Driver Askin of Griffin, GA, passed on July 21, 2023, at the age of 97.
Mother Askin was born July 12, 1926, in Pike County, GA, to the late Glover and Rozieliene Driver. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Willie Fred Driver and Timothy Driver; three sisters, Isabella Driver, Opaline Driver, and Annette Driver; one daughter, Katherine Askin; one granddaughter, Diana (Talley) Barlow; one great-grandson, Sharron (Trez) Askin; and one great-great grandson, Cederrius (Whoadie) Hastings.
Mother Askin joined Eighth Street Baptist Church at an early age where she served faithfully until her health failed. Mother Askin served as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Mother Board and the President of the City Wide Mission Society.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her five children, Gladiola (John Oscar) Talley, James Otis (Brenda) Askin, the late Katherine Askin, Joyce (Clance) Daniel, and Ernestine Askin; brothers, Winson Driver (Wanda) and Glover Driver (Loretta); sister-in-law, Giquilla Driver; twelve grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and forty-six great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; godchildren, Leila Cheatham, Henry Cheatham, and Shirley Ann Smith; and special friends, Wanda Crawford and Patricia Hawthorne.
