Obituary

Mother Fannie Mae Ellis (Nan) was born in Spalding County to the late Tom and Susie W. Hollis on October 20, 1933.  Mother Ellis departed this life on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, at Eternal Hope in Griffin, GA.

She was retired from the medical field after 25 years of service.  She was a lifelong member of The Greater Springhill Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Ushers Ministry, Senior Choir, Pastors Aide, Hospitality, Missions Ministry and the Mothers Ministry.  Mother Ellis was crowned the First Miss Greater Springhill in September 1996.  She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mother Ellis was preceded in death by her parents, all four siblings and her son Pastor John W. Ellis, Sr.  She leaves behind her children to cherish her memories - Joan (Gus) Robinson of Griffin, Emily Sue Caslin of Barnesville, Maxine Wheeler of Griffin, Brenda (Melvin) Gaines of Forsyth, Arthur (Elaine) Ellis, Sr of Newnan, Thomas (Peggy) Ellis of Hampton, Daughter In Laws Melinda Ellis of Locust Grove and Shirley Ellis of Griffin; 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and two very special daughters Angela Wilkerson and Eileen Smith-Jackson – both of Barnesville, GA and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends who sorrowfully mourn her passing.
