Rev. Ralph Giles, Sr. was born on August 5, 1950, in Griffin, Georgia to the late Nathaniel and Doris Giles. Rev. Giles attended and graduated high school from Fairmont High School in Griffin, Georgia.

In his early years, Rev. Giles worked diligently at K-Mart for 15 years. Later in life, he became a CDL driver for 30 years throughout Atlanta, Georgia and surrounding counties.

Rev. Giles grew up serving at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where he was a Junior Deacon and was later ordained as a Deacon prior to becoming an ordained minister. Rev. Giles was an ordained minister for 40 years. He loved teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to see souls added to the Body of Christ. He was also an associate minister at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership and guidance of the late Rev. Horace Fuller, Jr.

For 14 years, he was a chaplain and minister for the prison ministry at Spalding County Correctional Facility.

He departed this life peacefully on February 28, 2022, at home in the arms of his devoted wife and caring daughter. Rev. Giles was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Doris Giles, his brother, Nathan Giles, Jr., his sister, Patricia Hickmon, and his granddaughter, Miss Tamaya Anmyree Holloway.

Left to cherish his greatest moments and memories is his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Sarah Giles; his four children, Ralph Giles, Jr., Ralphala Giles, Ratasha Giles, and Rashawn Giles; grandchildren, Jahtavious White Devin Deloach, Diamond Giles, Gevin Deloach, Rhazir Jones, and Ramani Giles; great-grandchildren, Allison and Leilani; his siblings, Eddie (Ruedean) Williams, Gwendolyn Shepard, Deborah Johnson, Phyllis Richards, Jean (Derwin) Lamar, Tabatha Taylor, and Diane Hopkins; his brother-in-law, James Gibbs, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Vickie Jennings; and a host of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends around Atlanta and Griffin-Spalding County.
